Mobile Diesel Technician — Class B CDL

Ed's Heavy Mobile is seeking an experienced Mobile Diesel Technician with a Class B Commercial Driver's License to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs at customer locations and in the field. This position combines professional diesel repair skills with the ability to operate a commercial service vehicle requiring a Class B CDL. Technicians must be capable of working independently, managing field assignments, communicating professionally with customers, and completing repairs without the support structure of a traditional shop. Responsibilities • Operate an assigned commercial mobile service vehicle in accordance with applicable laws and company requirements. • Travel to customer facilities, yards, jobsites, roadside locations, and other field service locations. • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, starting and charging systems, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, and related mechanical systems. • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and scheduled services on commercial vehicles and equipment. • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems using scan tools, digital multimeters, service information, and established testing procedures. • Perform field repairs safely and efficiently using the tools and equipment carried on the service vehicle. • Accurately document inspections, diagnostic findings, labor, parts used, and completed repairs. • Identify additional safety or maintenance concerns and communicate findings before performing additional work. • Maintain the assigned service vehicle, tools, diagnostic equipment, and inventory in clean, organized, and serviceable condition. • Follow company, customer, jobsite, and applicable commercial-vehicle safety requirements. • Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, management, and other technicians. Required Qualifications • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) appropriate for the assigned service vehicle. • Ability to satisfy applicable driver qualification and company insurability requirements. • Professional diesel, commercial-truck, fleet, heavy-equipment, or related repair experience. • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic ability. • Ability to read wiring diagrams and use scan tools, digital multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment. • Ability to work independently and make sound diagnostic decisions in field conditions. • Ability to safely operate and maintain a commercial mobile service vehicle. Preferred Experience Experience with air brakes, hydraulics, welding and fabrication, diesel aftertreatment/DEF systems, electrical diagnostics, trailers, and heavy equipment is preferred. Additional CDL endorsements and industry certifications are a plus. This position involves driving and physical field work, including lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, working around commercial vehicles and equipment, and performing repairs in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
