Mobile Diesel Technician — Class C / Non-CDL

Ed's Heavy Mobile is seeking an experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs at customer locations throughout our service area. This position operates a mobile service vehicle that does not require a commercial driver's license for the assigned position. A CDL is not required. Applicants must have a valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicle and meet company driving requirements. This is a field-based technician position requiring the ability to work independently, diagnose problems accurately, communicate professionally with customers, and complete quality repairs away from a traditional shop. Responsibilities • Operate an assigned non-CDL mobile service vehicle safely and responsibly. • Travel to customer facilities, yards, jobsites, roadside locations, and other field service locations. • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, starting and charging systems, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, and related mechanical systems. • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and scheduled services on commercial vehicles and equipment. • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems using scan tools, digital multimeters, service information, and established testing procedures. • Perform field repairs safely and efficiently using the tools and equipment carried on the service vehicle. • Accurately document inspections, diagnostic findings, labor, parts used, and completed repairs. • Identify additional safety or maintenance concerns and communicate findings before performing additional work. • Maintain the assigned service vehicle, tools, diagnostic equipment, and inventory in clean, organized, and serviceable condition. • Follow company, customer, jobsite, and applicable safety requirements. • Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, management, and other technicians. Required Qualifications • Valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned service vehicle. • Ability to satisfy company driving and insurability requirements. • CDL is not required for this position. • Professional diesel, commercial-truck, fleet, heavy-equipment, or related mechanical experience preferred. • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic ability. • Ability to read wiring diagrams and use scan tools, digital multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment. • Ability to work independently and make sound diagnostic decisions in field conditions. Preferred Experience Experience with brakes, suspension, electrical diagnostics, preventive maintenance, diesel aftertreatment/DEF systems, hydraulics, welding and fabrication, trailers, and heavy equipment is preferred. This position involves regular driving and physical field work, including lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, working around commercial vehicles and equipment, and performing repairs in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
